Solapur leads Maharashtra in production of beedi, Solapuri Chadars and towels are famous in India and also at a global level. "Solapuri chadars" are the famous and first product in Maharashtra and has been a leading centre for cotton mills and power looms in Maharashtra. Solapur had the world's second-largest and Asia's largest spinning mill. The National Research Centre on Pomegranate (NRCP) of India is located in Solapur.
The Science Centre in Kegaon (Solapur) is the third largest and prominent scientific association in Maharashtra. The Raichur-Solapur Power Transmission line of 765 kV power capacity suffices the power grid accessing need of the southern states of Karanataka and Andhra Pradesh. The first waste-to-energy electricity plant in Maharashtra is situated in Solapur city.

Smart City

Siddheshwar Temple

The Siddheshwar Temple was constructed by a devotee of Sri Mallikarjuna of Srisailam, Shri Siddharameshwar. The temple is located near the Siddeshwar Lake and has three gates situated in the cloister through which the inner courtyard can be reached. Very serene ancient temple located between a lake makes it a perfect surrounding.. Very well maintained temple, a marvellous architecture and peaceful.Boating facility also available.


Akkalkot was the home to Shri Swami Samarth Maharaj just 40 km form solapur., a 19th-century saint who is believed by his devotees to be an incarnation of Lord Dattatreya.It is served by Akkalkot Road Railway Station 7 km away and you can take chennai mail and udyan express for Mumbai, Chennai mail for Chennai, Tirupati, Mantralayam, Raichur, Gulbarga, Udyan express for Bangalore, Hyderabad Passenger for Hyderabad.


Phandharpur - Vitthal Mandir, 70 kms form Solapur, dedicated to Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini prominently worshipped among Varkari community, on the banks of Bhimā river. Popularly known as the Kuldaivat of Maharashtra & the Southern Kashi of India. This region also has a square shaped Pundalik Temple that is known for an open arched portico and a Shivalinga which is protected by a brass cover. Tuljabhawani Temple

Tuljapur is a town with 1 hr. distance from solapur, a municipal council in Osmanabad district. Tuljapur is the location of the annual Tulja Bhavani fair during Navaratri (September–October). Gadda Yatra

Gadda Yatra - Nandidhwaj. The Gramadevata (Chief deity) of the city is Shri Shivyogi Siddheshwar. The "Nandidhwaj" procession on the Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti and on account of it an annual fair locally known as Gadda Yatra attracts large crowds and is associated with the marriage of Lord Siddheshwar. There was floral street decorations in color, a cattle fair with local traders selling artifacts, and night shots of ferris wheels at the fair.
